Crazyyyy

They say that love makes you crazy. I guess it's kind of true. It numbs things. Makes your brain stupid. Makes one question EVERYTHING. Smile randomly like an idiot when thinking about this other person, even if they're a gazillion miles away. Just knowing that you're in their thoughts is enough. Knowing that they're out there, doing their best, making themselves the best that they can be for you so that together you'll be the perfect us. Uff! Makes me mental.

Love can make you do the silliest things, utter words and lines that you never thought you would. They can make you a complete wuss and make you cry because you have no idea where you are and what you're doing and you're in so deep! Do you feel like that too?

Here are just some random things that made me smile :) I hope they'll make ya'll smile too!

Someone Else's Seconds?

So I came across this ad - I've seen it before, but I saw it again recently... ok I actually saw the Aston Martin one which is a lot more provokative, but they got me thinking. In western culture men & women alike get around, have a myriad of relationships before they finally find someone they're willing to settle for or want to start a life with. Whether they're open and honest with one another or their past is blurry, it's not something that's held against them.

This side of the world though, it's not so easy... With men, less so, but with a girl, once she's "with" someone, dating essentially, whether or not their relationship has gone much further beyond holding hands, her reputation is essentially tarnished. For those who embark on physical adventures, they've pretty much signed their lives off to these guys as they know that not many other respectable families or boys would be willing to give them a shot. It's sad, really, because the hypocrisy and double standards that are involved means that the guys are doing it just as much, they're sleeping around, having fun, but when it comes to the girl they make their wife, they want her to be untouched, even by them, and pure of mind, heart and soul.

So... if you get a great girl, fun, outgoing, confident, kind, generous, lovely personality, but you're not the first... do you care?

Just read this somewhere...

makes a LOT of sense!

"this is what you need to do: stop giving a shit about the perceptions that others might have of you, just because it's Valentines Day. Today is just like any other day, except men and women alike drain their bank accounts in feeble attempts to show their special someone that they "care". Last time I checked, love wasn't measured by how many boxes of chocolate and goofy looking teddy bears you bought for someone. If you're single go out and enjoy yourself. Treat yourself to a nice dinner, a massage, etc. You don't need someone in your life in order to enjoy Valentines Day."

4 Tips To Lead A Happier Life

We live in a world of endless possibilities and though the wide variety of choices available to us should make us happier it often ends up having the opposite effect and bums us out! So what can we do to lead a life that leaves us feeling more fulfilled?

You need a core group of friends...

Friendship is one of life’s main joys and a posse that is close to your heart will generally offer a wholesome support system when you need it. “Friendship is one of life’s main joys,” says David Niven, PhD, author of ‘The 100 Simple Secrets of Happy People’. Keep in mind that a ‘core’ means having a small, close-knit group, who don’t need to all be friends with each other, but they should be able to be open with you and you with them.

A girl’s got to have adventures!

And often too! Recall your favourite memory... I’m sure it wasn’t when you were sitting at your desk or studying hard for an exam, in fact, I’m pretty certain it involved something different and perhaps even daring. “If everything you did in life was safe, you’d never have any exhilarating moments or crazy experiences to recall, both of which give you the sense that you’re truly living,” explains Brian Luke Seaward, PhD, author of Quiet Mind, Fearless Heart. Now we’re not suggesting you go totally nuts and start living recklessly, but every now and then let down your guard and have some fun!

Toss the excess stuff...

Clutter your space and you clutter your mind, and that’s never a fun place to be. Not only that but when you’re making enough money and can afford anything you set your sights on the ability to appreciate it almost simultaneously goes out the window. It also makes you cling to your belongings and become somewhat of a hoarder. “Extra belongings weigh us down and crowd our space, making us feel overwhelmed and disorganized,” says Dr. Taylor, adding that “lightening up will help you regain control and, therefore, happiness.” Keep what you need, a few sentimental valuables, and toss the rest – you’ll feel a weight lifted off your shoulders.

Find the right balance...

Running around all day taking care of work, chores or responsibilities will drain you and eat into your store of positive energy. Lying around on the couch all day, being lazy and drifting along, wasting your day will most likely have a similar effect. Over exerting yourself stresses us out while inactivity breeds boredom and inspires feelings of uselessness and depression. The key here is to strike a balance. Find the right amount of work and play that works for you. Reward yourself for the work hours that you put in with dead time to give your body and mind time to rejuvenate and relax.

Lovely little winter break!

So... you may have noticed that I've been pretty MIA since just about Christmas. Things  have just been so hectic and super busy - but in a great kinda way. First descended upon me family... and then friends. We stumbled into 2013 together, laughing, grooving, eating, building precious memories all the way. Even friends have now become part of my family and so having everyone here was awesome. Half days at work and the other half roaming around, squished into a car, sitting in laps, secretly sheesha'ing, eating, drinking, being merry... my words will fail me. It was the best way to close one chapter and start another!

loverly

my lovely sent this to me while I was far far away, frolicking in lalaland. made me smile when I saw it in the morning!

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart) i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Caged Tiger

I feel like a tiger, caged. Even though I am surrounded by comforts and beauty I know that it's all artificial. i feel love from onlookers but it does little to warm my heart. people look at me and marvel as they see majesty and pride but when I catch my reflection in the water I see only slouched shoulders and protruding ribs. I pace my cage, feeling numb, each stride making me more aware of the empty void eating me up from within and I roar to show my pain but I am punished even for that. They clap and I swiftly move my paw across the way but they mistake that too for aggression forgetting that I am a wild cat, this is who I am, this is instinct. the bold lines that decorate my fur have faded in my memories. I am no longer what I used to be; I am merely a ghost of my existence.

Just had to share!

I came across this and it made me smile the biggest smile i've smiled in a while. And we must remember that time waits for no one. We must treasure every moment we have... You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special. Remember most of all to hold on tight to the ones you love :)

Loverly...

So I up and left this adopted city of mine some ten days ago because all in all it was just getting too much. The sea beckoned to me from a land not-so-far-away and immediately I packed my bags for the sunny, dry terrain that whispered my name. I got there on a Friday and lay low. I love surprises... unless I'm the one surprised... and so on Saturday morning I invited myself to a breakfast planned by friends and surprised mine. He didn't squeal in delight or trip over furniture but I know he was excited to see me and screaming with joy on the inside :P After enjoying delicious wholeweat pancakes drizzled with caramel, sprinkled with banana scallops and garnished with cream at N'eco's we drove around town happy just to be together.

Time had been going by at an insane rate - especially the last few months. I feel like I've just barely adjusted to October and already November has crept up to take it's place. This makes me super excited, for now, not only am I counting down the days on Monday for the weekends but I'm also counting down the months to summer, because this summer is going to be mine :) Any way, I digress, the reason I was talking about time whizzing by was because the nine days that I got in my port city seemed to really slow down so that every moment was enjoyed and every memory etched into our minds forever. My friends, my people, they make my life so special. A certain someone (my bestie) was missing, and had she been there, things would've been even more fun, but she's off pursuing her dreams at one of the world's top colleges so she is forgiven!

In the meanwhile I enjoyed spending time with family, being lazy, lying on the couch, watching tv, gossiping with my grandmother about various family members and family scandals. I lay on my tummy and contemplated life, laughed at meaningless, silly, things and made cupcakes with my little cousin. I watched Taken 2 at the cinema with friends and shared popcorn with mine while bugging him with my slushie as the other friends threw popcorn at me, giggled and whispered! We did dinners and lunches, enjoyed serenity and peace, made headway, talked about things serious and not-so-serious and generally had a jolly good time.

When the time came, yesterday, to say goodbye to my lovely city and my friends and family the grumpiness in me came out to rear it's head. I didn't want to leave, I wanted to stay on, but alas all good things must come to an end. And as I flew 35,000 feet in the air I realised that this wasn't such a bad thing. For moving forth is good... as November will pass leading us into December I have a feeling that we're going to have a good winter. I'm already planning a wicked new years here for which both family and friends will be heading on over to the land of fog and crisp winters, Lahore. A dress and dancing shoes are in order... after that I'm all set to party! Oh and a shiny disco ball!

Poetry for Mine

You have no idea how hard I've looked
for a gift to bring You.
Nothing seemed right.
What's the point of bringing gold to
the gold mine, or water to the ocean.

Everything I came up with was like
taking spices to the Orient.
It's no good giving my heart and my
soul because you already have these.
So I've brought you a mirror.
Look at yourself and remember me. ~ Rumi

Behind every good man...

Behind every good man...

10 ways in which a woman (and a good one of course) improves a guy's life. Here we go... starting from number 10, along with my thoughts, but do check out the link too (it's that pink bit up above)!

10. Makes him more social: ummm... well I'll have to disagree there. I'm less social than my other half. Really not so much of a party person. I prefer small, intimate, get-togethers and hanging out. When I do party, I still want to be in my bubble of just us.

9. She'll make him better in bed: hmmm... so do we ladies go for the guys with a lot of experience or are we willing to do the teaching? :P "Boredom is the enemy of monogamy" - gotta agree there. Definitely worth keeping things interesting, both in and out of the bedroom ;)

8. She makes him normal, curbs his neuroses and in effect makes him more productive: I guess this could be true, both people tend to act as a support for the other and therefore bring about a balance.

7. She'll keep him honest: This I can pretty much guarantee... men lie, to us and themselves. Not for any real gain, but perhaps it's a lazy, procrastinating thing. Women will call them out on it and make them see reality...

6. She'll ensure that he's healthy: Not only because she loves him and would like for her man to live forever, but also because they're generally more particular with counting calories, watching their weight and maintaining a regimented diet/exercise program. At least I am. Plus wouldn't you want to look good for your significant other?

5. She makes him think about the future: I'm not saying long-term visionary but hey, when you're in the right relationship you do start thinking marriage, kids etc. (predictable stuff) but a good lass will also make her guy ask the right questions regarding career, ambitions, goals, things he wants to accomplish in life, bucket lists, and she'll find ways to help him get there.

4. She keeps him motivated: Yep! M will testify to this one. Girls will kick boys' butts when they need it or just gently coerce them into keeping themselves on track with regard to the above mention stuff.

3. She'll bring adventure and new things into his life: Again, not sure if I agree with this entirely. Depends on the girl's personality and could work the other way also. After all she may be the unadventurous one!

2. She provides stability: Yep! For sure...! With more energy to focus on things that matter now that you've got this down, someone to rely on and support you through thick and thin, life will seem a lot more, well, stable.

1. She sees the best in him: And in turn helps him see himself as such. She'll boost his ego and make him feel like a king who can accomplish anything he sets his mind to... and then... he can!

Oh speaking of behind every good man, have you heard that joke...? "Behind every successful woman is a man... staring at her ass!"
